The University of Chichester offers one of only a few BASES endorsed programmes in the UK, and degrees which are endorsed by IMSPA.
We have a well-established Olympic heritage dating back to the 1988 Seoul Games, and continue to be involved in the training and preparation of Olympic athletes.
There are over 20 Clubs to get involved in, ranging from our competitive activities in British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS), to Adventure Sports, Cheerleading and many more.
Tudor Hale Centre For Sport
The Tudor Hale Centre For Sport is our Universities flagship facility for our students, staff and communities sporting performance, recreation and fitness. The centre incorporates the brand new Fitness Suite equipped with state of the art Life Fitness Equipment and our Fitness Studio in addition to a 4 badminton court sized Sports Hall.
On the Chichester Campus we also operate our new Sports Dome which houses 4 indoor tennis courts and 3 netball or Futsal courts.
Other facilities on the Chichester Campus include:
- 110m synthetic athletics track
- Two multi-purpose gymnasiums
- Indoor and outdoor climbing walls and climbing boulder
- 2 full size grass football pitches and pavilion.
- Grass rugby pitch
- Outdoor netball court
- A full size floodlit artificial turf pitch
- Two seminar rooms
All students have access to the Tudor Hale Centre for Sport on the Chichester campus. The Centre incorporates a multi-purpose sports hall that is used for a variety of sports. In addition, there is a fitness suite, strength and conditioning room, and two seminar rooms.
All of the facilities are designed for academic teaching, research, BUCS competitions, and recreational use for students throughout the week and at weekends. Annual membership packages at THCS range from £130 to £150. Alternatively, you can get a monthly membership from £17.50 a month.
Our Sport’s Scholars automatically receive a £150 Annual Membership to THCS as part of your scholarship.
We also enjoy strong community links with local sports clubs, including Chichester Rugby Club, Chichester City Football Club, Chichester City Colts & Chichester Priory Park Hockey and Cricket Clubs,
Are you interested in playing sport? Would you like to play competitively for the University or recreationally with friends? Here at the University of Chichester we have over 25 student led sports clubs and over 45 teams for you to get involved in. We want to give you the best experience, when you join the Sports Federation you become part of the WSIHE family and have the chance to celebrate with us every Wednesday, win or lose.
In addition to our competitive fixtures and training sessions, the Sports Federation Committee organise sporting events throughout the year including: Sports Tour, Alumni, and Sports Awards. For further information and an up to date list of current SU Sport Clubs visit the UCSU web page.
The Sports Federation
The Sports Federation is a student led body that organises Student Sport at the University of Chichester. That includes Clubs, competitive sport, recreational opportunities, event hosting, campaigning and many more. There are a wide range of Sport Clubs to get involved in ranging from our competitive activities in BUCS to Adventure Sports, Cheerleading & many more
The Sports Federation is headed up by the Sports Federation President and assisted by the SU Sports Co-ordinator). Both are based above Zee Bar (Bishop Otter Campus) along with the other SU Staff and Student Officers, so if you have any queries about Sport please come or up to date contact details can be found on the Student Union website.

Gifted Athlete Support Programme
SU Sport, University of Chichester Institute of Sport and the Sport Performance and Rehabilitation Unit (SPRU) has developed the Gifted Athlete Scholarship Programme (GASP) to help support students at the University who compete on the International or National stage.
The programme provides both financial and scientific support, providing the opportunity for athletes to balance their sport and academic life throughout their time at the University of Chichester.

The fitness suites on both the Chichester and Bognor campuses are open to students, staff and community members. Our Get Active project is our programme of recreational sporting activities. We run the following sessions for our students.

Coach Education Programme
The Tudor Hale Centre For Sport is a nationally recognised training centre for many sports and qualifications. Each year we provide a wide range of coaching courses and workshops on which students, staff, local coaches and teachers can enrol. Thus ensuring that our students are marketable employees within the sport industry. This year’s current programme can be accessed by following the link on the right hand side of this page and following the onscreen instructions.
Working with a variety of National Governing Bodies, our Coach Education programme covers most mainstream sports, Sports Coach UK workshops and first aid awards to name a few.
