The Data Protection Act 1998 requires every organisation (unless exempt), which is involved in processing personal data about identifiable, living individuals to notify the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
The University has to comply with this requirement and details about the information we process are included on the ICO Register of data controllers, which is available for public inspection.The Act regulates the processing of personal data and protects the rights of individuals whom the data is about by placing duties on those who decide how and why such data is processed.
