Engagement: Post 16

Our Post-16 programme of activities concentrates on progression into and preparation for study in HE.  As with the pre-16 package, schools and colleges can opt for all activities or a bespoke selection to complement their current provision.

Year 12 Progression Days

Progression Days are on-campus events that are supported by Ambassadors and enable students to learn more about the type of courses available, the benefits of going to university, student finance and how to choose a course and university.

Pre and Post UCAS Convention Workshops

In response to feedback, we have developed pre and post UCAS Convention Workshops specifically designed to provide students with all the relevant information needed when attending UCAS conventions.  These workshops help students plan effectively before the visit, ask key questions during the event and analyse the materials, prospectuses and information gathered after the event.

Personal Statement Workshops and Clinics

Small group workshops or group presentations are offered to support students when planning and formulating their UCAS personal statements, identifying an appropriate structure, key content, technique and importantly essential tips required to make a successful application.

Insight Days

Year 12 Insight Days provide a progression from Discovery Days in terms of subject specificity.  Academic departments and staff within the University deliver subject-specific sessions (supported by Ambassadors) that provide year 12 students with an increased ‘insight’ into their opted subject and future options into HE. Find out more about Insight Days

Experience Days

Experience days provide progression from Insight days for year 13 students who are specifically interested in a degree qualification delivered at and by the University of Chichester and are therefore subject-specific.  Experience days are organised and delivered by Academic departments and staff (supported by subject-specific Ambassadors) and provide year 13 students with an ‘experience’ of their chosen University of Chichester UG degree qualification and what being a University of Chichester student is actually like. Find out more about Experience Days

HE and Careers Events

Our Access and Outreach team provide an information stand to support students and parents at events such as Careers Evenings and progression into HE events. We can also deliver presentations covering a range of HE topics such as:

  • Making an informed choice
  • The benefits of Higher Education
  • Choosing a University and course
  • Student finance
  • Writing an effective personal statement

* These presentations can also be delivered as part of a parents’ or carers evening.

Mock Interview Support Sessions

This session can be delivered to a whole group or on a 1:1 basis. The session will give students vital hints and guidance on how to prepare for a University interview.

Student Finance Sessions

The University recognises the importance of providing students with current information on the finance process in a relevant and impartial manner. This can be delivered either as a presentation or in a workshop format.  Sessions include the costs of University, the availability of funding and the process of applying for finance.

Learning Performance Roadshows

This series of on-campus roadshows introduces and develops students’ thinking, learning, revision and study skills in a fun, creative and engaging fashion that will enable them to solve problems
