Faculty

We pride ourselves on being a small, friendly University where academic excellence can flourish, and the Faculty is the academic heart of the University.  It consists of seventeen Academic Departments, each of which strives to deliver a consistently exceptional student experience.

The Faculty, led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Catherine Harper, provides a structure for the development, promotion and championship of the distinctiveness, quality and profile of the University, and overall academic leadership and active management of the University and its academic departments, staff and resources. She also has responsibility for quality and standards, academic provision, student experience, and the effective management of learning and teaching.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr Mark Mason, supports the Deputy Vice Chancellor in ensuring the academic quality, management and relevance of our programmes of study and research. They have delegated responsibility for the design and delivery of the academic portfolio including collaborative provision, oversight of quality and standards, student experience and the promotion of excellence and innovation in learning and teaching.

The Faculty Manager works to help ensure the academic provision is supported by welcoming, professional administrative and technical staff, and that the Faculty is appropriately resourced to deliver the optimum experience to our students.

All Faculty staff take enormous pride in their work to support our students make the very most of their time at University and to exceed their expectations of what they can achieve. Our graduates are highly employable, socially and environmentally aware, and confident in their discipline.
