Overview
This Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship offers university-based study alongside practical workplace experience to prepare you for your career as a manager. You will be employed full time or part time by a business and attend university on a day-release basis.
This course gives you a firm grounding in the principles of management, enables you to study the nature of organisations through your own experience at work, helps you develop as a self-aware and reflective manager, and builds your management skills in practice.
You will study a mixture of modules focusing on management and business topics that are relevant to your employer and can be applied in your workplace.
You will study three broad topic areas:
- Operational Performance
- Interpersonal Excellence
- Personal Effectiveness
You will have a full or part time job with your employer while you study and be able to apply the knowledge you learn at university to your workplace. When you graduate you will be awarded a BA (Hons) Management degree.
The degree apprenticeship is delivered one day per week over 4 years and is open to both existing employees and newly-recruited staff.
Teaching and Assessment
How you will learn
You will attend university for one day each week during term time and study two modules per semester. Modules are taught in interactive workshop sessions which usually last 2.5-3 hours each. You will be expected to apply and develop your learning in the workplace.
You will be assessed through coursework that will support your soft skills including report writing, presentations and analysis. You will also submit a portfolio to be assessed during an End Point Assessment (EPA). The EPA will include a short presentation and an interview with an independent EPA Assessor.
The Course
What you will study
This course is delivered over two semesters per year for 4 years. You will attend University for 1 day a week over a semester, which is approximately 12 weeks.

Learning Resource Centre
The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) contains the library, a café, IT/teaching rooms, and the Support and Information Zone (SIZ).

Course Costs
Your tuition fees will be paid by your employer and/or the Government so you will graduate without tuition fee debt.
As an employee you will receive your salary from your employer and be eligible for employee benefits while you study. You will not be eligible for a student loan.
