E-Business

Joint/Minor Route
What is E-Business?
E-Business is the term used by organisations to describe the use of electronic communication to support the full range of business processes both internally and externally with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. It includes as examples: support for selling and buying, collaborative working, knowledge exchange, tracking orders and account management. With the proliferation of information technology in the workplace and at home, e-business is increasingly at the centre of many business processes. Some businesses would not exist without the world wide web: Amazon, Easy Jet, Google, Last Minute.Com to name just a few.
This programme is designed to develop proactive graduates that will be equipped to gain appropriate and rewarding employment and make an immediate and on-going contribution within the workplace. It is anticipated that many of the students, upon graduation from this course, will either work for an organisation utilising e-business technologies to conduct their activities or are considering creating their own businesses. As such, they will be proficient in a team environment and have acquired sufficient personal and technical skills that will enable them to reflect upon a problem or situation and identify appropriate strategies. In addition, they will have the confidence and capability to allow them to develop as lifelong learners. Whilst the programme is a multidisciplinary course that brings together a wide range of IT and e-business management disciplines, there is a primary focus on the development of students’ intellectual and practical skills that will support them both as learners and as future managers.
