Former Students

stylecurve

We provide a full guidance service for students up to three years after graduating from the University. We recognise that for many graduates the process of career decision making does not even start until finishing your course. In some cases this can be delayed further by ‘gap’ year travel and the need to take time out. We still offer support beyond the three year point but this may be limited by current demands on resources. Contact us by phone, email or in person.

Under a national agreement with UK universities recent graduates can also use careers services at other institutions. This can be useful if you have moved out of the area. There are usually some restrictions in place so check with each service for details. To find out about your local institutions try the Prospects link: www.prospects.ac.uk/links/gradreg.

You can also access email career advice through Prospects for up to five years after graduating: www.prospects.ac.uk/links/gradadvice.

Providing help for current students

We are particularly keen that former graduates can pass on their experience and insights to current students. You will have specialist knowledge of your sector covering such areas as the main trends and recruitment practices. You will be able to add the crucial element of first-hand experience to the advisory process. This can be valuable in all fields from established career areas such as teaching and social work, through to the less structured opportunities in sectors like media and publishing.

Please contact us if you are interested in helping current students. This could be through us in careers – simply passing-on information and insights. Or you could go further and talk to students directly at an event or session for your subject or professional area. Do get in touch with us if you feel you could help.
