Research

The department has an active interest in research which it pursues in the laboratory and also the field. The ethos of the research is to develop the theory in an applied manner.

Whilst the team are engaged in a wide variety of areas, the following are research projects which have resulted in recent publication, The physiological demands of ultra-endurance mountain biking;  Field dependency and skill acquisition; and monitoring hydration status during expeditions. In addition the staff team have published key textbook primers; Adventure Education: An Introduction; and Adventure Sports Physiology and they regularly contribute to Outdoor Sector publications.​
