Anita White Foundation

Launched in 2011 and based at the University of Chichester, the Anita White Foundation (AWF) aims to be a central point of reference for scholars and activists involved with women and sport, and to support the education and development of women leaders from countries where women face particular challenges.

The AWF consists of two main components:

  • an archive of original materials related to the women and sport movement
  • a fund which will enable women leaders from countries where women face particular challenges to access education and development opportunities

The AWF has staged annual events and a seminar series, hosted visiting international scholars, completed a report for an international group, and funded women leaders in Africa.

Led by the expertise of a diverse management group embedded within the structure of the University of Chichester and with strong ties to sports organisations in the UK and internationally, the AWF aims to continue building partnerships and projects with scholars and activists involved with women and sport.

In June 2014, the AWF helped to organise the Women's Sport Leadership Academy (WSLA) with Females Achieving Brilliance (FAB) and support from the University of Chichester. Read more about our projects.
