My research traverses the field of critical theory, and particularly its intersections with cultural production. Currently I am working on the question of negativity in contemporary theory, and particularly its implications for political practice. My future work is focused on temporality, forms of value, and the anthropology of the subject. I also have a critical interest in avant-garde aesthetics and the problem of transgression in art, theory, and cultural politics. I am a corresponding editor of Historical Materialism, and a member of the Editorial boards of Film-Philosophy and S. I also direct the Theory Research Group (http://theoryresearchgroup.blogspot.com/), an interdisciplinary group devoted to presenting work in contemporary theory, at the University of Chichester.

I am interested in supervising postgraduate work in the following areas: critical theory, particularly contemporary European thought (Agamben, Badiou, Negri, Zizek); Lacanian psychoanalysis; contemporary avant-garde and modernist fiction; anti-capitalist and anarchist politics, cinema; horror fiction; and the cultural politics of the image.
