Brandwave







Brandwave is full-service marketing agency specialising in the sports market and delivering on a global scale for some of the most successful brands in the industry. Brandwave employed Kacper Kowalik, a Digital Film Production and Screenwriting student, for an eight week internship during the summer. He undertook video editing and animation for client videos. GraduateOn were able to give the company a selection of candidates with varying levels of experience and skills that could fit their requirements. Brandwave quickly saw how much work Kacper could help them with and he proved to be a great addition to the team.

Brighton Fringe









Brighton Fringe is the largest arts festival in England, and it sets out to stimulate, educate and entertain a wide audience by providing a showcase for diverse art forms. During the festival, the Brighton Fringe becomes incredibly busy and they required additional help during this period in the form of a Participant Services/Marketing and Communications Intern. Ross Gardner, a second year BA (Hons) Theatre student worked for the festival for four weeks on a full time basis. 

Ross managed the information point, giving audiences direction and advice on fringe information and events; updated databases; performed research tasks and gathered information; stewarded events; attended Fringe events and professional development workshops; and answered telephone enquiries.  The Brighton Fringe were delighted with the service provided by GraduateOn, the quality of Ross Gardner’s work and the benefits his involvement brought to the event and to the organisation.

Sussex Newspapers

    

 

Sussex Newspapers is a leading news organisation for East and West Sussex, publishing more than 30 weekly and 6 monthly titles, and 17 websites. 

GraduateOn provided assistance in finding the right students for the positions available. The newspapers employed Emily Turner, a final year student studying a BA in English and Fine Art degree, as a Media Assistant whose brief was to support various campaigns and promotions, including their Woman of the Year event and a black tie business award dinner. They also employed Leanne Coombes a final year student studying a BA (Hons) English & Creative Writing degree. Leanne was employed as a Social Media Assistant to promote forthcoming articles via Twitter and Facebook.

Littlehampton Museum

Littlehampton Museum is a cultural service provided by Littlehampton Town Council. It is home to five permanent galleries and two temporary exhibition spaces with interactive exhibits and collections. Graduates often have limited opportunities in the heritage sector so Littlehampton Museum were keen to support new graduates and engage young people in heritage. 

Fine Art degree student, Helen Peters, joined Littlehampton Museum as a Museum Assistant. Her primary role was to work on digitising the museum’s collections using the Modes collections management software. This involved handling the collection material, recording a digital image of the items and entering them onto the database. As the intern joined the museum during the busy summer period, they were also able to assist with an event, and help set up two exhibitions.



The museum benefited from an extra staff member at a crucial time in their busy calendar and they very much appreciated the extra resource as well as the intern’s creative input into their activities.

Emphasis Management

Emphasis Management is a full service marketing and event management agency specialising in the energy and technology industries. 

Emphasis Management had won a piece of international business and needed support in the weeks leading up to an event, so this project was an opportunity for someone to get really involved in managing and running an event.



English and Creative Writing graduate, Camilla Duggan, got involved in developing and managing a database of contacts; sending out invitations and newsletters; selecting and managing suppliers; liaising with delegates and communicating with the client on a regular basis. GraduateOn assisted Emphasis Management in articulating what was required from a graduate before they posted the job description, and supported them in identifying the right candidate for the role at a time of rapid expansion for the business. Camilla’s support proved crucial to the success of the event and enabled staff to manage other aspects of the business.

Tuppenny Barn

Tuppenny Barn grows high quality, affordable, organic produce in Southbourne and sells it through a shop and VegBag scheme. In addition the organisation promotes sustainable working practices and teaches young people how organic food production works in harmony with nature. 

Tuppenny Barn were keen to increase the demographics of the company to include a younger element. Their main concern was finding the right intern who would embrace working outdoors, coupled with having to use their initiative for fundraising. They employed Adrian Brown, a student studying Music with Music Marketing and Administration, with his main task being to develop a fundraising campaign to pay for their new education centre. He fully researched all aspects of crowdfunding and prepared a plan of action for the campaign. In addition, Adrian assisted in the direction of their crowdfunding film and worked on many aspects of marketing for the social enterprise, including preparing press releases and liaising with members of the media.

The organisation found having an intern from the University a positive experience. It helped give them a new perspective on different aspects of marketing and having an additional member of staff was invaluable for such a small company. Adrian made a real impact on the marketing, so much so that he was employed for an additional period so that he could remain with them throughout the crowdfunding campaign. 

"We gained an individual who contributed much to our marketing plan in both practical and innovative terms. It was good for us to form a new partnership with the University and we hope that this relationship continues. We are keen to have another intern if the opportunity presents itself and funds are available.”
