What is EYPS?

Early years Professional Status
The University of Chichester is pleased to announce that they are able to offer EYPS with effect from January 2012. The University of Chichester is the lead provider in a Consortium with the following providers to deliver recruitment, training, assessment and accreditation activity for Early Years Professional Status (EYPS).

What Pathways are available?
Places will be available from January 2012 on the following EYPS Pathways. Graduate Practitioner Pathway (GPP); Undergraduate Practitioner Pathway (UPP); Graduate Entry Pathway (GEP); and Undergraduate Entry Pathway (UEP). Descriptions and specific requirements for each of the four EYPS Pathways are set out in the table below:

The Graduate Practitioner Pathway (GPP) |
Graduates currently working in the sector who require a small amount of learning or experience before they can demonstrate the EYP Standards. |

Candidates must hold a degree awarded by a United Kingdom higher education institution (or recognised overseas equivalent) at the start of this pathway. |
The Undergraduate Practitioner Pathway (UPP) |
A current employee working in the sector with a Level 5 qualification. |

At the start of the pathway candidates must hold a qualification with a total of at least 240 CAT (Credit Accumulation and Transfer) points, 120 of which must have been obtained at Intermediate Level on the Higher Education Qualifications Framework |
The Graduate Entry Pathway (GEP) |
People with a degree and limited experience of working with children from birth to five but who are looking to pursue a career working in early years. |

All candidates must hold a degree awarded by a United Kingdom higher education institution (or recognised overseas equivalent) at the start of this pathway |
The Undergraduate Entry Pathway (UEP) |

Normal duration: |
Candidates must be studying in the final or penultimate year of a degree in Early Childhood Studies at the start of the pathway |
Maths and English GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent and relevant Degree are required before starting the Pathways.
The two 'practitioner' pathways are part-time and designed for current practitioners. The two 'entry' pathways are full-time and designed for new entrants to the workforce.
