David-MorrisseySTAR of the Walking Dead series David Morrissey is to be interviewed at the University of Chichester about his career as one of the most in-demand actors of his generation.

The award-winning performer and director will take centre stage on Tuesday 7 March as part of a series of events to launch the University’s Department of Creative and Digital Technologies.

Mr Morrissey will be speaking with academics about the role of the Governor on the apocalyptic US show and taking the lead in recent BBC drama The Missing.

He will also talk about his illustrious on-stage career with the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as an appearance in Doctor Who and receiving a BAFTA nomination for directing 2004 film Passer-By.

The interview is part of a series unveiling the University’s new Department of Creative and Digital Technologies in which students learn the tenets of television and film making in an environment taught by practitioner academics and screen professionals.

The new courses, which open in September, build upon the heritage of the University’s Department of Film and Media and which will – from 2018 – be located at its new multimillion-pound Engineering and Digital Technology Park.

The development includes specialist media production studios, a commercial sound stage, and one of the UK’s largest green-screen and motion capture units for the student-led creation of industry-standard film and television productions.

Dr Adam Locks of the Department of Creative and Digital Technologies said: “The Governor is coming to Chichester. It is an enormous privilege to welcome David to our University to speak about his successes not just in the UK but state-side and across the globe.

“His unforgettable performances in some of the world’s most popular shows characterise his accomplishments in film and television and he is the perfect figure to inspire young filmmakers, our students, and the creative communities of Chichester and Bognor Regis.”

The interview, which starts at 5:30pm, will be held in The ShowRoom at the University’s Chichester campus. Tickets are now sold out.
