Guidance notes for application
Personal Statement - Applicant to include
- Personal sporting expertise – sell yourself re achievements
- Relevant experience working with children (coaching, teaching, leadership etc)
- Transferable skills gained from A Level/BTec courses, work experience, etc
- Personal qualities, interests relevant to teaching profession
Applicant to ensure
- Develop breadth of sport/PE interest across a wide range of activities you will be expected to eventually teach (remember the National Curriculum includes Games (invasion, striking and fielding, net, gymnastics, dance, swimming, athletics)
- Awareness of the National Curriculum in PE and current educational issues in school eg Every Child Matters policy
- College/school reference is written in sufficient detail – do they know enough about you and the course you have chosen?
- UCAS application form completed and handed into staff by end of October. (the longer it is left, less likely offers will be available!)

Preparation for Interview
- You will be required to participate in an assessed practical in Games and
Gymnastics activities along with an opportunity to teach
- Lead a short group discussion on a topic of your choosing related to sport or
education
- Paired formal interview
