School Teaching Experience

DfES require you to complete 32 weeks in total in school over the 4 years.

• Year 1 – Primary school task based experience
  
• Year 2- 8 weeks Autumn Term
  
• Year 3- 10 weeks min Summer Term
  
• Year 4- 12 weeks min Spring Term
  
• Year 4- Post 16 placement, one day a week Autumn Term

Schools range from local to Chichester, covering the whole of West Sussex, Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton, Isle of Wight, as far east as Eastbourne, west to Poole, north into Surrey. Schools also include single sex, state, private, 11-18, 11-16, middle schools, city based, rural, and you aim to have a broad experience over the 4 years. Post 16 placements are in 11-18 schools, sixth form colleges or further education colleges.

You are expected to not only teach a wide range of practical areas but also GCSE, BTec and A level courses, be involved with a tutor group and extra curricular activities to enrich the wider school community.
