Research Fellow

24 Carla Rue (1)

About

She has been the OPRG lead researcher on the delivery of several commercial contracts, including ‘Human Augmentation strategies to enable on-demand adaptation to operational stressors, ‘Development and Validation of Role-Related Gender-Free Physical Employment Standards (PES) for Ground Close Combat (GCC) Roles, in the British Ministry of Defence (MOD)’, ‘Non-Ground Close Combat (non-GCC) PES’, and ‘Development of Physical Competence Standards (PCS) for National Ambulance Resilience Unit (NARU) Special Operations’.

Prior to this Carla completed her PhD at the University exploring the “The Use of Normobaric Hypoxia as a Method for Enhancing Weight Loss”.

Carla has wide-ranging experience in undertaking field-based research, which she has gained through the delivery of commercial research contracts (e.g. MoD, NARU), and via membership with the Birmingham Medical Research Expeditionary Society (BMRES). Her personal research themes of interest are Physiological Responses to Physically Demanding Occupations, Physical Employment Standards, and high altitude health and performance.

Alongside her research activity, Carla has taught physiology across a number of modules and degree pathways at the University of Chichester.
