Health Centre

Helping you to stay healthy.

Health Centre

We aim to provide an inclusive service that addresses the needs of all students.

We utilise a caring, holistic and non-judgemental approach which we hope encourages and supports students to learn about themselves and how best to maintain their own health and well-being.  We have also have a health advice section for International Students.

With this in mind, we refer to both traditional and complementary healthcare professionals to enhance what we do.

As Nurse Health Advisers we offer:

  • Confidential support
  • Information on a variety of health-related issues
  • Advice and treatment for minor concerns
  • Information on sexual health and free condoms
  • Signposting to other professionals, both within and external to, the University

Local Doctors

We strongly advise ALL students to make sure they are registered with a local GP and so we maintain close links with two local surgeries.

Lavant Road Surgery is within walking distance of Bishop Otter Campus.
Details of their opening times and the services they offer can be found at www.lavantsurgery.co.uk or by telephoning them on 01243 527264.

Bersted Green Surgery is within walking distance of Bognor Regis Campus.
Details of their opening times and the services they offer can be found at www.berstedgreensurgery.co.uk or by telephoning them on 01243 864843.

We also hold details of other surgeries in and around Chichester and Bognor if needed

Local Dentists

There are currently no NHS dentists available in this area. Therefore we strongly recommend that you maintain contact with your dentist at home.

However, if this is not possible and / or you require treatment there is an Emergency Dental Service at the Jubilee Dental Centre at St Richard’s Hospital Chichester. This is an appointment-only service and all appointments can only be made by telephone. This can make it difficult to access as the line is often busy but you will not be seen if you just turn up! Opening hours are Monday to Friday 5.30 pm to 10pm; weekends / Bank Holidays 8.30am to 1pm. Telephone: 01243 831790

Vaccinations

Prior to starting at University:

  • Students should check their MMR vaccination status with their home GP.
  • It is recommended you receive two MMRs.
  • It is also recommended you have a Meningitis C vaccination.
  • You will be asked about your vaccination status on registration.
