FAQs

How much are my fees?
---
This depends on the course you are doing and if you are a home or an International student and whether you are a full or part time. For further information please visit the fees section
How do I set up payment of my fees?
We encourage payment online as this is a secure and efficient way of paying.
I am having difficulty paying online
Please contact the Cashier on +44 (0)1243 816108
Can I pay by any other method?
You can pay by post by sending full payment with a cheque/bankers draft or telephone the Cashier on +44 (0)1243 816108 with your debit/credit card details.
Is there a charge if I pay by instalments?
We do not charge for this facility, however, unpaid instalments may incur an administration fee of £25.
I need to change my payment details?
You will need to contact the Cashier in order to do this +44 (0)1243 816108.
I am taking out the maximum student loan for my fees; do I still need to arrange to pay?
If you have applied for a loan for the full amount of the tuition fee, you do not need to arrange to pay as the fee loan is paid directly to the University.
I am taking out a Professional or Career Development Loan for my fees, what do I need to do to enrol?
Any funding for your fees must be in place at the start of the academic year. In most cases, these loans are paid directly to the University. If you are only part funded, you will need to arrange to pay the balance of your fees at registration.
What should I do if my instalment payment can not be met?
You should contact the Sales Ledger Supervisor (Finance contact details) in advance of the due payment to discuss this. If no contact is made and the fees remain unpaid, the University reserves the right to deny access to facilities and may result in exclusion from the University, as per the University’s Tuition Fee Policy.
What will I be charged if I withdraw from a course?
Any full time undergraduate student who withdraws or intermits within the first two weeks will receive a full refund of any contribution to fees paid directly to the University. For those who withdraw or intermit after two weeks but by 1st December a fee equating to 20pc of the annual fee is payable. Students who withdraw between 2nd December and 31st March are liable to fees at 60pc of the annual rate. For those who withdraw after 31st March, the full annual fee is payable. This policy includes those who intermit mid-year with the intention of returning to restart a whole academic year. Only where exceptional mitigating circumstances can be demonstrated can a variation to this policy be agreed and then only with the approval of a Deputy Dean.
I would like to talk to someone about funding available for my studies. Who do I need to see?
The University has a student money advisory service that will be happy to discuss all funding support available.
I have a tuition fee invoice showing on my account on the on-line system but have applied for a tuition fee loan from the Student Loan Company (SLC).
All tuition fee invoices are initially shown against a student account. Provided that your loan application is approved this invoice will be cancelled as soon as the University has confirmation of this from the SLC. However, it is your responsibility to ensure that fees are paid (whether by a fee loan or directly).
Do I qualify for student finance?
Rules about student finance are complicated, so this is a brief summary, but not conclusive. You have to satisfy three main conditions to qualify for student finance:
For full details on the assessment and eligibility criteria, please see the Government’s guide ‘Higher Education Student Finance – How you are assessed and paid’ available from: http://www.direct.gov.uk |
What funding can I get?
While at University you will have two main costs to cover: your tuition fees and your cost of living. Providing you fulfil certain eligibility criteria, you may be able to get a tuition fee loan to cover your tuition fees and a maintenance loan and/or maintenance grant to help pay for your living costs. The tuition fee loan is available to all ‘Home’ (UK residents who have been living in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of their course) and ‘EU’ students who do not have prior Higher Education Study and is available for the full amount of undergraduate fees charged by the University. Maintenance Grant and Maintenance Loan amounts vary depending on your household income. If you opt out of income assessment you may still be eligible for 72% of the maximum Maintenance Loan level non-means tested.
