Inter Campus Bus Service

Students and staff needs to travel between campuses can do so on the inter-campus bus service. It has been designed to fit within the University’s Green Travel Plan, which promotes the use of sustainable forms of transport when travelling to and from our campuses. It is operated by Stagecoach as a public service funded by the University and West Sussex County Council, and known as the U700.

Route

The daytime service runs from the Avenue de Chartres (Chichester) to Bognor Regis railway station, stopping at the Bishop Otter and Bognor campuses and all other public stops along the route. The service travels along Spitalfield Lane (by St Richard’s Hospital) and onto the A259 via Florence Road. In Bognor, the service travels along North Bersted Street and Rowan Way before arriving at the Bognor campus. It does not stop at the North Bersted shops during the day, but the evening service runs along the A259 through North Bersted via the North Bersted shops.

As a public service, the bus stops at all public stops along the route for those who wish to join at locations other than the two campus sites.

Timetable

The service runs on Mondays to Fridays (excluding bank holidays) throughout the year during the daytime, with the evening services running on Monday to Friday during the University term time only. A limited evening service operates during student directed/reading weeks.

Fares and tickets

The cost for a single journey is 50p, as the University subsidise the service for its students and staff. Students and staff must purchase pre-paid tickets to travel at this fare – it is not possible to purchase this rate on the bus. Any student or member of staff who does not have a pre-paid ticket will have to pay the full single fare of £3.70 (£6.50 return). Single journeys after 10pm will cost £2.00 in pre-paid tickets. Students and staff must also have their University ID available to present to the driver.
