PLEASE NOTE:

The MA(Ed) is currently undergoing reapproval and has been designed to enable you to align your Masters study with existing school-based professional learning projects and/or school improvement plans.  The proposal for the new programme is to offer two 30 credits modules per academic year.  It is anticipated that these changes will take place from February 2012 when modules will be offered over two semesters rather than three terms.

Exploring Research is the first 30 credit module on the new Programme and is designed to support you in developing your thinking and writing at Masters level.

If you have a passion for teaching and wish to develop your professional knowledge, then this module will be relevant to you.  The Exploring Research module will prepare you to undertake small scale research so that you will be able to investigate an area of your own interest; for example:

  • inspire & motivate pupils;
  • be a more creative teacher;
  • develop a new SEN policy; or
  • lead a department

Our previous students got passionate about their research!   As some of them have said:

“I thought research would be dull but now I’ve got the research bug”

“Research changes the way you think”

“I found it fascinating to find out what’s really going on in the classroom- not what I thought was happening!”

After this you may choose modules from a range of subjects:

  • leadership and management
  • special educational needs
  • early years
  • creativity
  • behaviour management
  • personalised learning
  • emotional intelligence
  • educational psychology
  • curriculum subjects

Closing date for applications: 30 January 2012

We look forward to hearing from you

NB: THE EXISTING MA(Ed) WILL OPERATE FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE 2011-12 ACADEMIC YEAR

The MA(Ed) is a flexible, well-established and successful part-time programme that combines professional relevance with academic rigour in its examination and researching of practice nationally and in schools, colleges and other educational organisations.
