PGCE Courses for Primary Teaching

The Primary Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) programme is a successful and well established course for those wishing to teach children aged 5 - 11 years. The primary programmes at the University of Chichester were graded 'Outstanding' in the 2010 Ofsted inspection and are very well evaluated by students.
The programme is available as a full time (1 year) or part time (2 year) course. We also offer a specialist route in Modern Languages which qualifies you to teach all subjects to ages 5 -11 but includes modules allowing you to specialise in teaching a foreign language (French or Spanish). This route is only available as a 1 year full time course.
Our primary PGCE courses are taught by experienced and enthusiastic tutors in partnership with mentors and teachers in local schools. The PGCE course lasts for 39 weeks and you will spend 18 weeks of this on placement.
