Open Days 2017: Book Now

Mature students

The University has always actively engaged with mature learners wishing to return to education and we are proud that almost a quarter of our UG entrants are mature on entry (12/13 HESA).

We understand that mature learners face quite different and complex obstacles whilst studying at both FE and HE levels and these obstacles can potentially have a significant impact on attainment, aspirations and the mature student experience.

Our mature learners programme takes place at key stages and times throughout the academic year and will be tailored around college calendars and external commitments of mature students and will be facilitated by our mature STAMPs.

Access and Mature Student Progression Day / Twilight

Mature student progression events provide an opportunity for students to visit the University campus and to engage in specific workshops and presentations covering the UCAS process, student finance, how to write a successful personal statement and the chance to meet Academics from a range of subject areas.

What Next?

What Next? follow-up events provide an opportunity for students to visit the University campus and to engage in specific workshops and presentations covering general admissions queries, hints and tips for University interviews, the UCAS clearing process and the chance to take part in a Q&A session with mature students.

Mature Student Welcome Day

In order to support the transition to university, the Access and Outreach Team host a welcome day specifically for mature students. This informal event is an opportunity to meet new and existing mature students from across the University.  Students also have the opportunity to meet with key University staff and services in advance of induction week.
