Social Enterprise Start Up Support

Our Social Enterprise House business support programme will give you the opportunity to make a real difference to your business development. You will take your idea and grow it with our intensive support and access to the latest business knowledge and practical tools.

The programme's aim is to help, support and develop your new or small Social Enterprise business or get you to make an idea in to reality through a comprehensive package of workshops, boot camps, peer to peer workgroups and business mentoring from business experts.

The Social Enterprise Hot House Programme includes a range of stimulating and challenging business and personal development activities that suit people from all work and educational backgrounds.

Taste it, feel it, love it, START IT – Friday 22 September

This session will be delivered by Gareth Sear, Dome Enterprise Centre Manager from the University of Chichester and Kate Scales, Development Manager from Voluntary Action Arun and Chichester. They will deliver a whirlwind of information and takeaways that you can use to develop your own Social Enterprise business. Be inspired by others who have started up their own business and get a taster of a how powerful peer group support is when growing your business.

Social Enterprise Boot Camp– Monday 9 and Tuesday 17 October

Two days of highly interactive, fun and informative business learning designed to help you define, refine and develop your business idea.

Day one you will define what it is that you do and control how you will be known. You will create a statement of purpose, a set of verbal business cards to articulate your business offer, and the first draft of your planned business using the internationally recognised Business Model Canvas.

Day two you will learn legal models social enterprise can adopt, explore your businesses social purpose and understand business finances.


A series of 6, 3 hour knowledge workshops. Learn what it takes to be successful in your business start-up. Build the knowledge to gain the confidence to create sales, understand fundraising techniques, develop powerful relationships with your customers and grow and develop your social enterprise business. The workshops include:

3 Nov: ‘Marketing Strategy’

1 Dec: ‘Marketing Sales’

12 Jan: ‘Fundraising Strategy’

9 Feb: ‘Fundraising Skills’

9 Mar: ‘Measuring and Demonstrating Impact’

13 Apr: ‘Recruiting and Retaining Volunteers’

All workshop sessions will run 9.30 – 12.30pm on the Bognor Regis Campus, University of Chichester

Peer-to-Peer sessions:

Delivered by Kate Scales, VAAC, the workgroups brings together all the people on the programme to form a group that will help you to grow and develop your business by using the experience and knowledge of everyone in the group.

All peer-to-peer session will run from 10.0am-12.00pm on the Bognor Regis Campus, University of Chichester


We offer a range of workshops across the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership region, covering everything from business structures, legalities and tax to marketing in the digital age.
