About Counselling

Are you motivated by the desire to work with people as a counsellor?

Counselling training is offered as a separate route by the department and is professional training leading to a clinical qualification. Courses are offered from introductory level - Certificate in Counselling Skills, to practitioner qualifications - Diploma and BA (Hons) Humanistic Counselling, as well as Continuing Professional Development Workshops.

The courses are run by an experienced team of practicing counsellors and offer qualifications that equip counsellors to practice in a variety of contexts. All courses combine humanistic theory with professional and ethical practice and are grounded in humanistic values; these values fit today’s working conditions.

You’ll be given the opportunity to explore how, as a humanistic practitioner, you can contribute to the contemporary and growing field of counselling and psychotherapy.

The BA (Hons) Humanistic Counselling is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and upon completion of the BA (Hons) practitioners are entitled to apply for individual accreditation through the BACP training route if they have satisfied other criteria for personal accreditation.
