Ben Quilter became Britain’s first visually impaired judo champion whilst studying for his Masters at the University of Chichester.

Ben combines his training at the British Judo Performance Institute in Dartford with studying for a masters degree in sport and exercise physiology at the University of Chichester.

Ben also completed a three year undergraduate degree with us, and  has praised the University of Chichester for support en route to the top.

"I train at Dartford between four and six hours every day, apart from the one day a week I am at the University of Chichester.

The University, and in particular my lecturers, have always been understanding throughout my time here.

They have allowed me the extra time off that I need, extended deadlines and arranged additional tutorials. This allows me to manage my time and balance my training, competition and study without any of them suffering."

In the 2012 Summer Paralympics, he won a bronze medal in the under 60kg men's category.
