Structure & Governance

The AWF benefits from the input of many people. It is afforded strategic advice by a Strategy Group of University staff and external experts, administered by a smaller Operational Management Group, given a student voice by the Student Action Group, and is benefited by external donors and supporters.

Strategy Group

The University established a Strategy Group to provide strategic advice to the AWF. It is chaired by Dr Anita White OBE and membership includes:

  • Co-founder – Dr Anita White, OBE
  • Co-founder – Professor Elizabeth Pike
  • The Chair of the AWF
  • Substitute for Dr White if required - Carolyn Carr
  • The Director of the Institute of Sport or a nominated representative
  • The Director of Research of the University of Chichester
  • A nominated representative for Marketing and Communications
  • At least one external member with expertise in Sport and International Development – this appointment will be voluntary although the University would reimburse (from the Department budget) any out of pocket expenses incurred in attending meetings, subject to the prior approval of the budget holder
  • The coordinator of the AWF
  • The Chair of the AWF Student Group

AWF Strategy 2020

  • To preserve women and sport heritage
  • To conduct research and scholarship of international repute on women and sport
  • To engage with the University community and AWF supporters
