Girls Golf Rocks Ambassador Leadership Day

Two graduates of the Women’s Sport Leadership Academy have joined forces to deliver the first Girls Golf Rocks Ambassador Leadership Day in October 2018. Stacey Mitchell (Girls Lead Officer for The Golf Foundation/WSLA 2017 graduate) and Lauren Spray (Women and Girls Manager at England Golf/WSLA 2018 graduate) were awarded an AWF Catalyst Grant to develop the programme that aims to train, support and empower girls to be the future leaders in golf, sport and society.

Thirteen girls attended the day, which included team building, reflective practice, developing a growth mindset, visualisation and personal development planning. Ladies European Tour Player and Golf Foundation Ambassador Felicity Johnson (kneeling centred) attended the event as an inspirational guest speaker.

Stacey (second left) spoke of how “the support of the AWF via the Catalyst Funding has made a huge difference to our organisations, the Girls Golf Rocks Ambassadors and to the development of girls golf”. The programme is now looking to be developed with the delivery of more leadership days at the local level.
