Our team is able to work closely with your organisation to design and deliver campus or workplace-based employee development for your staff, ranging from short courses in practice related topics and leadership and management, through to Masters degrees in Clinical Leadership and Management or Advanced Professional Practice. Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership in Health and Social Care

The programme is suitable for health and social care leaders including; CCG leaders, GPs, medical consultants, clinical leaders, social care managers, social workers, senior nurses and therapists, pharmacists and managers.

The programme offers health and social care professionals the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of leadership, their own learning and capability and, in turn, the overall performance of their organisation.

The course is offered as a tailored course for individual organisations and delegates who attend on a part time (one day per month) basis over 11 months. The content and focus is planned in partnership with your organisation aiming to achieve a close connection between learning and the workplace. Input from professional specialists in your organisation is a key feature of the learning approach. Emphasis is placed on face to face delivery, with student participation and experience driving the facilitation of learning and teaching. The programme has two modules:

  • Personal Development for Leading Transformation

  • Project Leadership and Delivery

In module 1 delegates will provide a written PDP exploring personal, professional and organisational clinical leadership development issues. This will include application of skills in practice in the form of evidenced achieved actions. Module 2 will be assessed in two parts. Firstly, delegates will be required to make a presentation based on their project goals. For part 2, delegates will need to produce a detailed report portfolio for their project. 

Postgraduate Certificate / Postgraduate Diploma / MA in Clinical Leadership and Management

Clinical leaders will have the opportunity to explore and develop their leadership and management skills and practice, informed by an analysis of wider management theory in a changing healthcare landscape.

The course provides your employees with the opportunity to better understand clinical leadership and management, their own capability and the overall performance of organisations through a critical reflection on their own management practice. The programme looks to create a cohesive body of leaders, equipped with the skills and knowledge to lead within their own organisation or particular department.

The qualification is undertaken on a part-time basis (one day per month) over 10 months, and is offered at three levels. The first year leads to a Postgraduate Certificate, the second year leads to a Postgraduate Diploma and another year would enable the awarding of a full Masters Degree involving work-based research. Emphasis is placed on face to face delivery of the programme, with student participation and experience being central to the facilitation of learning and teaching.

Over the course of the programme each delegate will compile a portfolio of evidence on the development of their leadership and on the implementation of a project focused on a specific organisational goal. 

Postgraduate Certificate / Postgraduate Diploma / MA Advanced Professional Practice

This course is aimed at public service practitioners and managers.

This MA enables practitioners and managers in the public service professions to gain Masters level qualifications tailored to their profession by assembling and consolidating verified CPD activity. The MA combines campus-based modules with short courses, work- based learning and other CPD activities, giving maximum flexibility in designing an individual pathway that reflects the specific needs and interests of your organisation. 

The MA consists of three phases; a Postgraduate Certificate, a Postgraduate Diploma, and finally a Masters degree. The full MA will take three to seven years to complete, depending on how you and your staff choose to organise their studies. Alternatively, the programme structure enables delegates to exit after each phase with a professional award, should they wish.

Assessment of the modules involves a range of different methods including essays, presentations and work-based projects.
