Chichester the ‘happiest place to live’ in UK

CHICHESTER is among the happiest places to live in the United Kingdom, a study has revealed. The city was ranked in the top ten of a nationwide survey which asked residents and students for their views on community spirit, safety, and the friendliness of its citizens.

The study, conducted by property website Rightmove, interviewed more than 17,000 people across the UK about the best aspects of their area. Chichester rated highly for its shopping areas, its sense of belonging, and as a place where residents and students have good access to nature and green spaces.

The rankings follow a favourable report from consumer charity Which? University that named Chichester as one of the best higher education establishments for sports in the UK. The survey asked more than 8,000 students nationwide to rate their institutions.

Chichester was given a gold medal for its sports which helps students to relieve stress, make new friends, and keep fit and healthy. The report also claimed that students make the most of the facilities by joining in with the extracurricular activities and societies.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane Longmore said: “When I ask students what makes our University special they tell me about the sense of belonging they experience. They say that being here is like being part of a community where everyone knows everyone else, and everyone is included.

“We are very proud of our beautiful campuses, which blend wonderful historic buildings with state-of-the-art facilities. We focus on preparing our students for career and life opportunities beyond university: we are ambitious for our students and want them to make a difference in the world.”
