About

Before joining the University in September 2012, Jon taught Physical Education for 25 years in secondary schools across England holding a wide variety of roles, including, Head of Department, Head of Faculty, Director of Studies, Partnership Development Manager, Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Head teacher.

Jon is an ex- Rugby player and experienced coach, specialising in Attack Skills.  He currently coaches at Worthing Raiders National League team and has held roles at Sussex RFU and Harlequins Academy.  He has vast experience of delivering CPD courses for both in-service Primary and Secondary PE teachers.  Jon has been involved with training PE staff in both Iraq and Shanghai, working with the Youth Sport Trust,  the British Council and the Pudong Education Bureau delivering CPD for both primary and secondary teachers and University Staff.

Jon teaches on all PE undergraduate programmes and is currently the Subject Leader for the PGCE PE Secondary programme and a member of AFPE.
