Researcher Development

Our researchers are supported in their own development and we have a number of schemes and initiatives in place to this effect demonstrating our alignment with the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers.

The University achieved the European Commission HR Excellence in Research Award in November 2013.

The European Commission HR Excellence in Research Award is:

‘A UK-wide process, incorporating the QAA UK Quality Code for Higher Education, Chapter B11: Research Degrees and the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, enables institutions to gain the European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research Award, acknowledging alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for their Recruitment’ 

Since then, we have been working hard to enhance and improve the support, guidance and infrastructure to facilitate the continuing development of our researchers.  The following three documents are the outcome of the most recent review which took place in 2015:
