Angela Zanders

Classical Piano Tutor


Angela studied piano at The Purcell School, Trinity College of Music and Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, also studying at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna after winning an Austrian Government Scholarship. She won several competitions and awards at Trinity College where she studied with Joseph Weingarten, later taking lessons with Murray Perahia, and William Pleeth and Raphael Wallfisch for chamber music. Angela has performed all over the UK, including venues such as London’s South Bank, Wigmore Hall and St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields. She has broadcast for BBC Radio 3 and has given performances throughout Europe and in Australia and New Zealand, both as soloist and accompanist and as pianist in the Solarek Piano Trio, which she formed in 1992. She does a great deal of freelance accompanying and coaches instrumentalists and singers for concerts and examinations. For ten years Angela was accompanist at the Centre for Young Musicians in London. Angela is currently Associate Lecturer at Chichester University and an adjudicator for The British and International Federation of Festivals. She has a special interest in promoting the accessibility of classical music and has given lecture recitals for many years. She has lectured in Music Appreciation for Birkbeck College, University of London and for the WEA and U3A and currently lectures in Fareham and Petersfield in Hampshire.
