Claire French

Associate Lecturer, Choreography

Claire is a choreographer, dance educator, and co-artistic director/ choreographer of Restless Productions (alongside composer James Maxwell). Over the past 23 years, her choreographies have been presented in Canada, Europe, and the UK and she has collaborated with artists in opera, theatre, visual arts, musical theatre, music and film. Currently a Practice as Research PhD student in Dance at the University of Chichester, UK, she is navigating her reading, writing, choreographing and teaching passions. In 2017, Claire choreographed an inter-generational work called "Being Here" performed on Brighton seafront as part of the Brighton Dance Trail. She also choreographed "Green Light" - a full-length work devised with theatre and musical theatre students at The University of Cumbria. She has taught dance technique, choreography and collaboration extensively in universities, schools, and private studios. She holds a BA (Hons) degree in Dance with Inter-Arts (1994) from Bretton Hall and an MFA Interdisciplinary Studies (1999) from Simon Fraser University, Canada.
