Cliff Harden

Senior Lecturer in Digital Film Production

With a career spanning over 30 years, Cliff’s experience is hugely diverse. He has shot award winning feature films, short dramas, web drama series, commercials, music promos, documentaries and a party political broadcast for the Green Party thrown in for good measure. 

He has been fortunate to have travelled extensively with work, from the Arctic, China, Russia, Caribbean, Far East and most of Europe. He has directed live TV for all major broadcasters e.g. BBC, CNN, SKY etc, designed lighting and broadcast systems, can account for over 2000 hours of live transmission.

Cliff has studied Audio Engineering, Film & Video and endeavors to study a PhD at some stage in his busy life. His style of teaching is quite varied and flexible, with heavy emphasis on industry practices, often centered around Inquiry-based Learning with a 50/50 split on theory and practical 

He has a passion for technology and applied maths, owns and runs a tech start up that designs and builds specialised apps for the Film and TV industry. 

He has a huge love and endearing bent for drama/story telling, in his spare time he enjoys playing the piano and making cheese.

Fun facts: Cliff once trained as a Stone Mason, he also swam competitively in his teens, once for Royal Navy British Squad as a cadet.
