Emma Alexandra

Emma won a place to specialise in music at the Purcell School of Music and the Royal College of Music. Here she gained a scholarship to The Aspen Music Festival America. Later she studied with Thea King and whilst in Italy Gervase De Peyer.

She went on to make a particular study of Mozart as a postgraduate student with Jack Brymer. Soon she was playing as soloist to packed houses with The English Mozart Ensemble with whom she released a recording of Mozart.

Press reviews have recognised the beauty of her tone where also Edward Fennell from The Times said, ''The Fisarchi Ensemble and Emma Alexandra came together wonderfully in a vigorous and life affirming performance ''.

She has worked as soloist with other chamber groups such as the London Baroque Ensemble and with The Fisarchi Ensemble from Florence. Here she has explored a broad palette of sound from Klezmer to Piazzolla.

Recent performances have included recitals in Belgium with the pianist Dmytro Sukhovienko and in 2011 a second recording with Fisarchi, touring as guest soloist in Florence and Austria. Emma has taught at Chichester University since 2002 and is also Clarinet tutor at Bedales School Junior Department.

She has been Co-director of Bedales Music courses and adjudicator for University concerts Former pupils have achieved scholarships and have become professional Clarinettists.
