Hannah Crane

Name: Hannah Crane
Country: UK
Role: Director of Sport and Workforce
Organisation: StreetGames

Working first in finance, Hannah has worked in sport for almost ten years. After a series of roles at SkillsActive working as a regional lead for London and then as an advisor to National Governing Bodies of Sport, Hannah started to specialise in community sport. This led to a secondment with StreetGames in the summer of 2010 to lead a training needs analysis of the StreetGames Network.

Hannah is now part of the Senior Management Team at StreetGames. As Director for Sport and Workforce, Hannah leads teams focussed on development and delivery of training and in supporting National Governing Bodies to understand and respond to the sporting demands of young people living in disadvantaged areas.

Hannah has volunteered with Girlguiding for twenty years. Hannah’s time as a volunteer has also led to a number of roles within the organisation and in 2014 she qualified as a Trainer and now writes and delivers training for volunteers focussed on leadership and management skills as well as running successful programmes for girls.

Hannah loves working on events across both her paid and volunteer roles – in particular she loves being part of event teams that run the logistics of events from start to finish. Most of her best memories of work and volunteering are linked to being behind the scenes as fantastic events unfold. In particular Hannah worked as part of a core team during the Girlguiding Centenary in 2010 – one event where 10,000 girls took part in a festival over three days left Hannah with a buzz that she still smiles about today (and sore feet for a week!).

Hannah is driven by a fundamental belief in working with and helping others. Her favourite quote is from Baden Powell (founder of the Scouting movement) ‘Leave this world a little better than you found it’. Working in community sport has been a happy accident rather than master plan but Hannah has found an industry full of people driven by the conviction that the lives of others can and should be improved and this is what makes getting up in the morning not just easy but exciting!

Hannah has a reputation for excellent partnership working and for building strong working relationships with organisations both practically and strategically. Hannah leads by example setting high standards for her team and supporting them to achieve. Hannah is a supportive and compassionate manager which she combines with creativity and vision to try and inspire others.
