Professor Mike Lauder

Staff Governor

Mike is Professor in Sports Biomechanics and Director of the Institute of Sport. Mike joined the University of Chichester in September 2000 as a Senior Lecturer in Sports Biomechanics. He has held various positions over his time here and has served on all the major committees of the University. He now leads the Institute of Sport with over 90 academic and technical staff and over 1200 students on Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, which represents 23% of the University. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level and is also a qualified PhD supervisor. Mike is currently a member of Academic Board and has led the Institute of Sport such that it is best placed to deliver nationally recognised programmes and internationally recognised research and consultancy.

Having worked at the University for over 18 years, and now in the fortunate position of heading a successful institute with many internal and external collaborations, Mike is eager to bring his values and experience to governance and ensuring a secure future for the University of Chichester. He knows and has experienced the sense of community that embraces you as soon as come on either campus. As a staff governor he is keen to ensure this is not lost.
