Toby Bain

Music Technician

Toby first started playing music at a young age, introduced to the orchestral through the cello, however after dropping GCSE Music in place of Geography, it wasn't until Toby was 17 that he picked up the guitar to study a BTEC in Popular Music Performance and Songwriting. After failing the second year, oops, he moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina to work as an English teacher, this led to his taking a GSCE in Spanish - ¡Muy bien!

Toby went on to study Creative Music Technologies at Kingston University London, achieving a first class degree with hons and winning the "Creative Music Technologies Prize". This course was mainly focused on 'Recording and Production Techniques', however other modules such as 'Sonic Arts', which covered programming and sound design led to the invention of Toby's "wii-tar" - a guitar controlled by movement. Also studying Songwriting, during his second year at Kingston, Toby worked for Universal Publishing in London, this led to a number of his songs being published - some of which have been used by Netflix, the BBC and Channel 4.

Now 29 Toby has just over 10 years experience working within the music industry, he has toured the UK and Europe with his band and has charted on the MTV video chart. He currently plays bass in his band 'Suns Up' and is working with Big Life Management in London.

His other less music-y interests include; languages (always keen to learn a new one) and computer generated art (check out P5*js and Processing).
