Val Carter

Vocal tutor

Her career has been varied both as a performer and a teacher. After post-graduate training at The Guildhall School of Music in London, she was employed as a singer with Welsh National Opera for ten years. During this time, she performed extensively in this country and abroad where her roles included; Siebel in Faust, Mercedes in Carmen, Dorothee in Cendrillon, The Page in Salome, Beatrice in Beatrice and Benedict amongst numerous other roles. During this time, she worked closely with world class directors and conductors and by working in a touring company she has a deep understanding of the demands of the profession.

Following her career in opera she spent seven years as a vocal tutor at Winchester University on the Musical Theatre course.  During this time, she developed the singing department, and was involved in college shows and organised regular workshops with Guildford School of Acting to prepare students for auditions.

Recently she held the position of Head of Performing Arts and directed many productions enthusing students to have a passion for performing and a love of the arts.
