Pro-gamer turned Chichester esports lecturer outlines vision for pioneering degree

PRO-GAMER Rams Singh has revealed his plans to build on the success of the University of Chichester’s innovative new esports degree to provide the industry with a pipeline of skilled players and coaches.

The senior lecturer, who won numerous trophies with Team Dignitas, now leads the institution’s BA (Hons) in esports, which is the first of its kind to examine the impact of gaming through scientific study.

Students on the three-year course learn in an immersive gaming environment at the University’s £35million Tech Park, and cover the physical and psychological impact of esports, including nutrition, coaching, and strategy.

Speaking to award-winning esports writer Dan Sacco, on a recent visit, Rams said: “My aim really is to give the esports industry their future workers of the scene and get them doing things right so we can have the next coaches, managers, marketers, production people etc.

"[It’s] also for me personally to get this teaching right, so that people who are currently in the industry will have a path to look forward to if they think about moving on.”
