A second-year law student at the University of Chichester, Katie Pratley-Smith, is celebrating after winning an important Lincoln’s Inn prize.

Katie, who is studying for a LLB Law with Criminology degree, was awarded the Neuberger Prize after being nominated by lecturer Keith Sinclair and will receive a place on a three-day summer school hosted at the Inn, a mini-pupillage organised by the Inn and free admission to the Inn as a student member, as well as £250.

She said: “Being awarded this prize is an amazing honour. The award will open so many opportunities and experiences that I would not have been able to gain otherwise. I’m really excited to get involved and meet lots of new people at Lincoln’s Inn, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me in my future legal career.”

Keith Sinclair, Lecturer in Law, said: “Katie’s award of the Lord Neuberger Prize is a well-deserved recognition of her intellectual curiosity, determination, and commitment to the study of law. Since Katie’s arrival on the LLB in Law and Criminology, she has consistently shown herself to be an excellent student. This award reflects Lincoln’s Inn’s recognition of her potential as a barrister and her capacity to make a meaningful contribution to the legal profession. We are very excited to support Katie as she moves on to the next stage of her legal career — congratulations, Katie!”
