Double celebrations as University shortlisted for prestigious Times Higher Education awards

The University of Chichester has been shortlisted for two Times Higher Education (THE) awards, recognising its outstanding achievements in both marketing and environmental sustainability.

The institution was announced as a finalist on 3 September in the categories of Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership.

Now in their 22nd year, the THE Awards celebrate achievements across higher education and are widely regarded as one of the sector’s most respected accolades.

The shortlisting for Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team of the Year recognises the success of the University’s refreshed brand and communications strategy. Developed to help prospective students feel a sense of belonging and connection, the campaign used authentic student stories, personalised communications and a distinctive, human-centred approach to truly reflect the Chichester experience.

Emily Tann, Associate Director of Marketing, Brand and Communications, said: “We are incredibly proud to be shortlisted for Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team of the Year. This recognition reflects the passion, creativity and commitment of our team, and the fantastic collaboration we have with colleagues across the University. Our ‘Together we…’ campaign was built on a simple idea: helping prospective students feel a genuine sense of belonging before they even arrive.  We’re thrilled that this work, and the impact it has had on our students and applicants, has been recognised.”

The University’s environmental leadership nomination recognises its work to reduce waste and carbon emissions through the introduction of a smart reusable cup scheme across its campuses, helping eliminate single-use cups.

Lucy Ferre, Energy and Carbon Manager at the University of Chichester, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised for the work we’ve been doing to reduce our environmental impact at Chichester. Special thanks go to BaxterStorey and Circular&Co. for partnering with us to remove single-use cups from our campuses.”

Commenting on this year’s awards, THE Editor Chris Havergal said:

“These continue to be challenging times for our higher education sectors, but that makes it only more important to celebrate the contribution of the teams and individuals who continue to transform lives for the better, week in, week out, across the UK and Ireland. It is a huge achievement to have reached this stage in another very competitive year.”

Winners will be announced at the Times Higher Education Awards ceremony in Birmingham in November.

The double shortlisting reflects the University’s wider impact across the region, supporting students to achieve their ambitions while making a positive contribution to the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the Chichester area and beyond.
