Chichester District Council leader visits University for first time in post
THE leader of Chichester District Council has been welcomed to the University of Chichester for her first visit to its campus in more than a decade.
Councillor Eileen Lintill, who was voted into post in May this year, was given a guided tour of the Bognor Regis campus – and the new Tech Park – by Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane Longmore.
The £35million development, which was opened by Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year, brings together degree courses in engineering as well as creative and digital technologies to create a new area of academia focused on STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
The Conservative Council leader, who is a keen football fan, spoke about how she watched her team Petworth play against the University’s own team. She was also introduced to the University Students’ Union president Moyin Ekundayo and vice-president Joe Paveley to talk about creating opportunities for students to get more involved in the community.
