History at the University – Top in the Country

Chichester continues to rank highly in the National Student Survey which rates student satisfaction with their University Courses. For the third year since the survey was launched Chichester can be proud of its success. The aim of the survey is to gather feedback on the quality of students’ courses in order to contribute to public accountability as well as to help inform the choices of future applicants to higher education.

History students at Chichester University reported 100% satisfaction with their course putting Chichester at the top of the list nationally for History. And out of 55,636 courses across all subjects taught in UK Universities, History at Chichester is firmly in the top ten.

Dr Hugo Frey, Head of History commented “I am delighted to receive this feedback from our students. The History team offers innovative and supportive courses in history which are underpinned by a commitment to international research. Student satisfaction is enhanced by opportunities to take up many local work placements with heritage sites and institutions, including the Weald and Downland Museum, Arundel Castle and Chichester Cathedral.”

Excellent results were also achieved for Imaginative Writing, which came first in the subject with students registering 97% overall satisfaction.

Other courses in the top ten for the subject include Media which gained second place, Social Work which ranked fourth and Sports Science which took eighth place out of 54 providers.

Dr Robin Baker, Vice-Chancellor at the University remarked “We are thrilled with these outstanding results. Our staff take great pride in the excellence of the teaching and support our students receive. It is hugely rewarding to know that our students rate their experience at the University of Chichester so highly”.
