Law students get masterclass from industry experts
STUDENTS from the University of Chichester’s new Law degree have been learning with industry-leading experts about drug-related crime, among other areas.
James Brotherton from Wannops LLP gave a masterclass for the students about his role as a criminal defence solicitor. He spoke candidly about how much of the work he does is defending those who have been arrested for drug related crime.
Senior Lecturer Amy Elkington said: “James provided a fascinating insight into the day in the life of Criminal Defence Solicitor. He spoke of the changes to legal funding and how this has impacted his work as a duty solicitor in police stations. He also discussed his role in trying to get those charged with crime released on bail and his work on two murder cases.”
The University students were also invited to Irwin Mitchell LLP to find out more about legal careers, training contracts, and sponsorship, while networking with current solicitors and the firm’s partners.
