University Professor appointed to Coastal West Sussex Partnership board
THE HEAD of the University of Chichester’s Business School has been appointed to the Coastal West Sussex Partnership to help tackle economic issues affecting the south of England.
Professor Dave Cooper will become a board member for the organisation, which is a collective of senior leaders from the business, education, and public sectors invested in upskilling the region’s workforce, providing opportunities for businesses, and connecting communities.
The University Professor has a wealth of experience in regional regeneration projects, including the Interreg Channel programme to improve water quality in French and English lakes, and sits on the Innovation South steering committee, which works to improve transport and healthcare.
He said: “I am delighted to have joined the Partnership and will continue its outstanding work in developing a connected coastal region with excellent employment and enterprise opportunities. The University, through the development of its new Tech Park, is working closely with businesses across the coast to develop a new generation of skilled workers who can lead the fourth industrial revolution.”
Professor Cooper is one of several changes to the Partnership board that includes new Chairman Henry Powell, Client Director at Inpress Plastics in Littlehampton, which has partnered with the University to provide opportunities for degree apprenticeships. Also appointed to the role of Vice Chairman was James Dempster, Managing Director of Cobb Digital.
Speaking of Professor Cooper’s appointment, Partnership director Caroline Wood said: “It’s an exciting time for the partnership as we start 2019 with a refreshed and energised board. We’ve brought together a group of senior decision makers from the public and private sector to help tackle a number of challenges through collaboration, including transport, infrastructure, and skills.”
