Open Day – Sunday 25th October

Artem Chapeye is one of Ukraine’s leading contemporary writers. Int his free event, he will discuss his recent book Ordinary People Don’t Carry Machine Guns – Thoughts on War (Seven Stories Press UK, 2025) and reflect on how Russia’s war against Ukraine transformed the lives of people far from the frontline. A writer, father and volunteer, Chapeye explores why some Ukrainian intellectuals took up arms – and how they make sense of war.
