Bestselling author Kate Mosse to lead talk on suffragettes and revolutionaries

Bestselling novelist Kate Mosse CBE will deliver a talk at the University of Chichester on the hidden histories of local women, including Chichester suffragette Madge Turner.

Kate will also delve into the lives of women from across the globe who have championed the rights of women – and it comes after the release of her book Warrior Queens and Quiet Revolutionaries: How Women (Also) Made the World.

The event will raise money for the Chichester Suffragist Statue Appeal, and links to the ‘Madge Turner and The Women’s Freedom League’ Exhibition being held at the University Library, sponsored by the Chichester Women’s History Group.

The talk, ‘Putting Women Back into History One Statue at a Time’, takes place at the University’s Bishop Otter campus on Tuesday, 29 April from 7pm, and is free to attend.

Find out more about Madge Turner in this article by the West Sussex Records Office.
