New ACCA recognition gives accounting apprentices a head start

Accounting apprentices at the University of Chichester will now be able to qualify more quickly as chartered accountants.
The University’s Accounting and Finance Manager Degree Apprenticeship has been awarded 9 degree-level exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), providing a significant boost for apprentices and employers alike.
The achievement means graduates of the programme can progress towards ACCA qualification with fewer exams to complete after graduation. As a result, apprentices can qualify more quickly, while employers could benefit from reduced examination costs.
The recognition reflects the programme’s high quality and close connection to professional standards, helping apprentices build the knowledge and practical skills that accounting employers are looking for.
Dr Rehanet Isa, Programme Coordinator for the BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance Manager Degree Apprenticeship, said: “The award of full 9 degree-level ACCA exemptions is a significant achievement for the programme and a fantastic outcome for both our apprentices and their employers.
“This recognition endorses the quality and professional relevance of the degree apprenticeship, demonstrating that it equips graduates with knowledge and skills that are valued by both the profession and employers.”
Dr Jordan Matthews, Academic Area Lead in the Business School, said: “We’re proud to be continually refining our offer to add value to graduates and employers. We listen carefully to what industry and accreditors desire to ensure our programmes are fit for purpose for the current and future workforce.”
Dr Moitree Banerjee, Head of the School of Law, Business and Psychology, added: “Our aim at the School of Law, Business and Psychology is to empower our students to become the ethical, innovative and resilient leaders of the future. Through real-world learning and a forward-thinking curriculum, we are equipping graduates with the confidence and skills to shape industries and fast-track progression in their careers.”
