Student housing specialist James Granger joins University of Chichester as chief operating officer
A FORMER director of a leading global student housing provider has joined the University of Chichester as its Chief Operating Officer.
In his previous role James Granger oversaw the operational management of purpose-built accommodation for around 20,000 students and higher education institutions across the UK, Europe, and Asia. His responsibilities at the University of Chichester will include finance, estates and IT as well as supporting the University’s strategic and commercial direction with the aim of building on Chichester’s 181-year history of providing education.
Mr Granger has considerable management and board level experience across private, public, and not-for-profit organisations within the accommodation, university, leisure and retail sectors. A Chartered Accountant, he has spent the last 17 years working in the student sector and has served as an independent board member for a UK university.
James said: “I am delighted to join the University of Chichester. I will focus on helping the University continue to build on its undoubted strengths during challenging times for the sector, and ensuring the foundations are in place for it to achieve its ambitious growth targets in the years ahead.”
The appointment of a Chief Operating Officer underlines a successful few months for the University which saw a significant surge in student applications and a meteoric rise in national league tables.
Last month it was named a top-30 UK university by the Guardian University Guide 2021 and was also ranked among the country’s best for teaching quality, student satisfaction rates, and high degree completion rates by the Times and Sunday Times 2021 Good University Guide.
